Fix Crackling or Distorted Audio in Windows
Reduce popping, crackling, and distorted sound with format and enhancement settings.
Crackling sound often comes from format mismatch or enhancements.
- Open Control Panel > Sound > Playback.
- Select your device > Properties > Advanced.
- Change Default Format to 16 bit, 44100 Hz or 16 bit, 48000 Hz.
- In Enhancements tab, disable all sound enhancements.
- In Spatial sound, set to Off and retest.
Also update chipset and audio drivers from your laptop/motherboard manufacturer site.
